A Cat Supply Checklist to Keep on Hand

So, you have made the decision to get a cat and bring them into your family. This can be a wonderful time in your life and you are going to be amazed with just how much love they bring to the table. That being said, there are also many things you should consider when it comes to preparing for the cat as well. This preparing process can get overwhelming but I’m about to take some of the stress out of it. The following checklist can help you to have the necessary items for your cat when you need them.

Food and Water – This is going to be an obvious item but it is something to consider. Look for a food that is higher in protein and fats. Some carbs are ok, but not too much.

Litter Box / Scooper – Be sure you have this on hand from the start. The training process starts right away but the benefits of having a cat who uses the litterbox are too numerous to mention

Litter – There are many brands and options available.

Collar – Your cat should wear a collar when they are in or out of the home.

ID Tag – It is important for your cat to have this from the word go. Be sure it has your phone number in case they get lost.

Carrier – This is going to be a valuable piece of equipment. Take some times to get the cat comfortable with the carrier before you need to use it.

Toothbrush / Toothpaste – Don’t forget the oral hygiene. Do it now or it will cost you later.

Nail Clippers – Available as either a guillotine or scissor style. Make sure they are quality

Brush / Comb – Regular grooming sessions keep their coat healthy and slow down shedding

Bath items – Yes, you might need to give the cat a bath. Best if you have everything you need now

Cleanser – For those occasional accidents, have some non-toxic cleanser on hand

Odor Control – A non-toxic enzymatic odor control is best. This will come in handy

First aid – For those unexpected problems

Toys – Yes, you will want to play with the cat.

This list of items will help to get you started. You are likely to figure out some other items to add to the list as you go along.
